Governor Lucas Gatterman

064A1652.jpgHi y’all! My name is Lucas Gatterman and I will be the Governor for the 2019 Youth and Government Conference! I am sad to say this will be my fourth and final year in the program, but I hope to make it a successful one for all of you! I have mainly participated in the legislative branch, serving as the Speaker of the House last year. I have also been fortunate enough to attend the Conference on National Affairs for the past three years.

Currently, I am a senior at the Albuquerque Institute of Math and Science. Outside of Youth and Government, I am an avid soccer player and have played on the Eldorado High School soccer team since freshman year. I also participate in Model United Nations and volunteer at Georgia O’Keeffe Elementary School. After high school, I hope to double major in physics and political science.

If you ever have any questions, or just want to chat with someone about random topics ranging from movies to musical theater (although my knowledge is limited on the latter) I am almost always available. I cannot wait to meet all of you and I wish you the best of luck!

Lt. Governor Josh Burns

Baby_Burns.jpgI am currently a junior at Eldorado High School. This will be my third year in Youth and Government. The reason I joined YAG was because Mama Burns dragged me up to the conference my 8th grade year and I fell in love with the program. My past two years of YAG I was selected to be a part of New Mexico’s delegation for the Conference on National Affairs.

Outside of Youth and Government I participate in Senate and National Honor Society.  At Eldorado High School I hold the position of Student Body Vice President. For the New Mexico Association of Student Council I hold the position of State Secretary.

I am super excited to serve as your Lieutenant Governor!

Speaker Of The House Tiffany Delgado

image1_(2).jpegHi, my name is Tiffany Delgado and I’m extremely excited to be the 2019 Speaker of the House. I have participated in the program for 4 years now. Within the program, I have mainly focused on the legislature, but was also in the governor's cabinet. This year, I plan to incorporate format used at the Conference of National Affairs, as well as previous conferences. I want to make the House the most effective, yet most fun it has ever been. You work hard to prepare for conference, so I plan to work hard to make your experience at conference memorable.

I attend East Mountain High School as a senior. Outside of YAG, I have a pretty busy schedule. I do extracurriculars such as Speech and Debate, Student Council, National Honor Society, and being a student representative for the school foundation. In between those activities I like to relax by doing hot yoga, getting coffee, and going on small, spontaneous adventures with friends. After graduation, I plan on studying pre-law and political science. I would also love to continue helping the YAG program as an alumni.

I cannot wait to meet you all at conference! Please feel free to come talk to me at any time. I’m excited to see new faces and make new friends. Let’s make the 2018 conference the best one yet!

Attorney General Harrison Kuszmaul

IMG_0210.jpgHarrison Kuszmaul is a senior at East Mountain High School. He joined Youth and Government as a freshman and has now participated in all three branches (Legislative, Judicial, and Executive).  After going through the judicial review process as part of the Attorney General's cabinet, he wants to pursue expanding the Attorney General position within YAG. Giving delegates the opportunity to discuss possible amendments to the New Mexico Constitution can increase the legislative experience at Youth and Government. Harrison is on the Sandia Peak Ski Patrol, plays guitar in the New Mexico Youth Ensemble, and is Vice-President of NHS. Harrison plans on pursuing a career in Civil Engineering and attending an out of state school. He wants to potentially join the Army Corps of Engineers or volunteer with the Engineers without Borders program in the future.

Secretary of State Alexis Pierce

Now I love the program and encourage anyone else to join as well.  In my years I participated mainly in the legislative branch and have had the opportunity to attend the Conference On National Affairs.

When I'm not doing YAG, I am working as vice president of my school’s Thespian troupe, and participating in other areas of the drama department. I enjoy writing, fashion, loud music, and all types of dogs. Feel free to come up and talk to me I love meeting new people!
