**ANNOUNCEMENT**

PRESS
The Press Branch is the storytelling and communications arm of Youth and Government. Press delegates document the conference through writing, photography, video, and interviews—capturing the moments that define the program and sharing them with delegates, families, and the community. In Press, your job is to make the work of every branch visible.

What Participants Do
Press Delegates:
-
Attend sessions across all branches to observe and report on key events.
-
Conduct interviews with delegates, officers, advisors, and guests.
-
Create content such as articles, recaps, highlight pieces, photo galleries, or short videos following program guidelines.
-
Help introduce statewide candidates and highlight special programs through approved communications before and during conference.

The Press Branch operates as a working newsroom:
-
Planning Meetings: The Media Director assigns stories, roles, and daily coverage.
-
Field Coverage: Reporters visit rooms, debates, arguments, votes, and events to gather information and images.

-
Production Sessions: Delegates write, edit, design, and finalize content that is shared with delegates and, when appropriate, the wider community.
Leadership & Oversight
-
The Media Director, appointed by the State Director, leads the branch, assigns roles, and ensures accuracy, fairness, and alignment with program expectations.
-
The Media Director may appoint area leads to oversee certain areas, such as an Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Delegate.
-
All content must comply with the program code of conduct and YMCA core values, and the Media Director and Program Area Leads will control access to publish content in order to ensure a review of all public-facing content.
